MSc in Clinical Psychology

According to WHO, India has one of the highest rates of mental health issues ranging from adjustment problems to severe psychotic disorders. Clinical psychology assesses and treats mental illness, abnormal behaviour, and a variety of psychiatric problems. The number of trained professionals in India is meagre. In the present society, there is an increased demand for Clinical Psychologists in the specialized areas of paediatrics, mental health, learning disabilities and substance abuse etc.,
Apart from the field of mental health, Clinical Psychologists have got larger scope to work in wellness-promotion centres, Legal settings, Rehabilitation centres, NGOs, Schools, Colleges and different organizational setups for getting involved in academic careers (teaching and research).


Duration:2 Years - 4 Semesters

Eligibility

Undergraduate degree in life sciences / Clinical Sciences / Social sciences from a recognized University with at least 50% marks.

Focus
Clinical Psychology is the practice of assessing, diagnosing, treating and preventing mental and emotional disorders, ranging from depression, anxiety and eating disorders to severe psychiatric disorders such as bipolar disorder, schizophrenia etc. The primary job of a student trained in clinical psychology is to assess patients, diagnose, mental, emotional or behavioural disorders and work for management and higher referrals
The students who trained under experienced Clinical Psychologists can work as an independent Clinical Psychologist after successful completion of the Program.

Key Features


Field Work/Internship
Clinical assessment, diagnosis and management exposure will be given from the 2nd semester onwards. Hands-on experience in clinical cases will be given for two months in the final semester to enable the students to handle psychological therapy independently.

Scholarship will be awarded for deserving and meritorious candidates under the following criteria ( **Only in the first year)

  • Above 90% or above 9 CGPA will be awarded 25% of Tuition Fee and
  • Above 80%-89% or 8 - 9 CGPA will be awarded 15% of Tuition Fee
